Clinic Coordinator

The Mission of the Jacksonville Area Sexual Minority Youth Network (JASMYN) is to support and empower lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth by creating safe space, providing youth development services and bringing people and resources together to promote diversity and human rights.

JASMYN is seeking to hire a clinic coordinator to provide support and assistance at JASMYN’s Sexual Health Clinic and assist with the expansion of JASMYN’s Sexual Health Clinic that includes, but not limited to: primary care services, transgender health, access to PrEP and nPEP and mental health assessments.  This position will also provide assistance in the implementation of up to five school-based teen health clinics in partnership with Florida Department of Health – Duval County and the Duval County Public Schools. We are seeking to hire a qualified professional that has experience working with LGBT youth and youth that have multiple issues and needs as well as a background in public health, mental health counseling or social work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support and assist with the coordination of weekly Sexual Health Clinics at the JASMYN house
  • Coordinate treatment and results and assist with monthly reports, including reports for the CDC DASH grant Teen Health Clinics
  • Assist as needed weekly Teen Health Clinics at multiple school-based sites under the JPPHEA partnership
  • Coordinate communication between JASMYN and project and community partners to achieve maximum engagement and success
  • Assist with the reporting of JASMYN clinic results and testing numbers for the monthly JPPHEA clinic report
  • Assist with HIV/STI intake, front desk support and direct student contact during clinics
  • HIV testing and counseling
  • Assist with the creation and distribution of health clinic marketing and outreach materials and coordination of inter-agency and school-based outreach
  • Coordinate and create clinic marketing materials
  • Assist with the creation of a clinic manual to be utilized at all teen health clinic sites
  • Develop procedures for advocacy, resource brokerage, referral, linkage and follow-up with youth clients who need treatment, prevention, or other services
  • Participate in JPPHEA and clinic coordination meetings as required.
  • Conducting client-centered PrEP education and adherence counseling services with a focus on client acquisition, engagement and retention
  • Providing patients and clients with basic introductory education regarding PrEP
  • Recruiting high-risk patients and clients into PrEP education
  • Provide patient navigation services for clients in JASMYNs PrEP Access Project.
  • Maintain client records and program documentation according to contract and organization standards (initial assessments, goal planning, progress notes, termination summaries, etc.)
  • Updating and maintaining information of local providers who prescribe PrEP and who provide their services in a culturally affirming manner
  • Participate as a member of the JASMYN staff and clinic team developing JASMYN programs and services for high risk youth, including group facilitation, outreach and enrollment, drop in center and clinic staffing
  • Adherence to HIPPA law to ensure participant confidentiality and privacy at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 2 years’ experience working in Community Health, experience working with the youth population preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in human/social services field (social work, public or community health, psychology) or related field
  • Familiarity and sensitivity in dealing with the unique needs of high school age youth and Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Questioning (LGBTQ) youth
  • Experience with HIV /STI prevention, testing and treatment; certification as HIV Test technician is preferred but not a requirement
  • Sensitivity to, interest in and competence in cultural differences, HIV/AIDS, minority health, sexual practices, and a demonstrated competence in working with persons of color and gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender community
  • Understanding of how HIV is transmitted and prevented as well familiarity with Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)
  • Experience with project management including, but not limited to: engaging community partners, creating work plans, providing communications to donors and stakeholders, overseeing volunteers, managing deadlines, and ensuring smooth program implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with accountability; exercise sound judgment, discretion,
    and professionalism at all times
  • Demonstrated computer and keyboard proficiency using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel,
    Outlook) and working knowledge of the internet including social media platforms and applications
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.


  • Cultural Competency – understand basic concepts around HIV and AIDS and knowledge around the challenges and barriers high risk LGBTQ youth face
  • Customer Service – able to personally provide high level of interactive service to targeted customer base/market, building relationships and acting as external organization advocate
  • Team Orientation & Interpersonal – must be a highly motivated, passionate, and creative team-player with ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels within and external to the organization
  • Communication – able to effectively and persuasively express self verbally and in writing, using correct language and grammar in a professional, diplomatic and tactful manner
  • Organization & Time Management – able to work independently with minimal supervision while planning, scheduling and organizing professional schedule to complete actions within established deadlines; able to handling multiple priorities with strong attention to detail
  • Systems & Software – proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software applications
