Director of Program Operations and Services
Organizational Description: JASMYN (Jacksonville Area Sexual Minority Youth Network) has the mission to support and empower lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth ages 13-23 by creating safe space, providing youth development programs and bringing people and resources together to promote diversity and human rights. Founded in 1994, JASMYN’s staff of 10 provides a comprehensive continuum of programs and services that includes a youth drop-in center featuring youth development programming, student support services, STI health clinic, HIV prevention programming, advocacy services, case management services for homeless and other out of home youth, and risk reduction counseling with specialized services for HIV positive youth including linkage and retention in care.
JASMYN seeks a full-time Director of Program Operations and Services. This position reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for the overall development, implementation, and continuous quality assurance of JASMYN’s programs and services for a diverse population of young people. Extensive knowledge and experience with a variety of issues, research, and best practice models regarding LGBT youth is critical. Strong staff development and supervision skills are key and this includes clinical case reviews and coordination, team building and collaboration, and program planning, development and evaluation. Additional responsibilities include building community partnerships and providing consultation and training that promotes interagency referrals and resources for LGBT youth. The Director of Program Operations and Services must be able to effectively deliver strength-based, harm-reduction services with a culturally responsive approach. An overarching commitment for the agency’s mission, an ability to insure a youth-centric focus, and a passion for work with sexual minority youth are essential.
Director of Program Operations and Services Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
- Operational development of all programs and services, including responding to new opportunities and needs
- Assurance of compliance with agency contracts and commitments for youth programs
- Maintain and assure high quality programs and services through building a collaborative staff team, case conferencing, program planning, staff training and development, and accountability measures
- Supervision of youth development staff, program coordinators, case management, risk reduction and safety net services, STI clinic staff, HIV prevention staff and undergraduate and graduate level internships
- Foster youth engagement, develop youth leadership, and maintain a safe, supportive climate for multicultural youth population
- Community advocacy, training and consulting, community relationship building including creating interagency agreements reflecting collaborations and partnerships
- Program administration under multiple funding sources including managing program budgets, developing evaluation measures and reports, and preparation of funding proposals
- On-call duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Master Degree in social work or a related field such as education, public health, social welfare or psychology from an accredited university; master’s degree preferred.
- Ability to relate to teens and young adults in an accepting, positive and healthy manner
- Demonstrated experience in positive youth development
- Familiarity and sensitivity in dealing with the unique needs of LGBTQ youth
- Experience and/or knowledge with HIV prevention, testing and treatment services; trauma-informed care; harm reduction programs; and services for out of home youth (foster care, housing for homeless youth, delinquency)
- Minimum 5 years working with adolescents; Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience
- Ability to coordinate multiple responsibilities and prepare regular reports
- Must pass criminal background checks and have a valid driver’s license
- Must be available to work flexible schedule that will include weekdays, evenings and some weekends
